Position Announcement: Director of the Women's Center for Education and
Service
The Division of Student Affairs is seeking qualified candidates to apply
for the Director of the Women's Center for Education and Service. The
Women's Center for Education and Service at Texas A&M University-Corpus
Christi opened its doors in 1995 and continues the tradition of support,
education and advocacy by creating and sponsoring programs related to
Women's issues throughout the University and neighboring community. The
Center proactively works to enhance the knowledge and awareness of
gender issues at A&M University-Corpus Christi. In addition, the Center
organizes and provides educational programs, leadership development,
special events, referral counseling, and community resource information
for students, faculty, and staff.
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, the nation's only university
located on its own island, is a comprehensive four-year public
university that is part of the Texas A&M University System. Designated
as a Hispanic-Serving Institution, the University is nestled along the
Coastal Bend of South Texas on its own 240-acre semi-tropical island.
Current enrollment is currently 9, 601 students, with a goal of 15,000
students by 2015.
Minimum Requirements: Masters Degree in College Student Personnel,
Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Communications, Gender
Studies or another field of study with related work experience. Minimum
of 3 years of professional experience in event planning and coordinating
programs. Ability to understand and articulate women's issues relating
to gender equity/discrimination, social justice, sexual harassment and
assault, domestic/relationship violence, and women's wellness.
Demonstrated experience with supervision and training of staff.
Experience in facilitating workshops and presentations. Demonstrated
experience in developing and managing multiple budgets. Demonstrated
ability to develop and implement strategic goals, and assess and
evaluate programs and services. Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal
and organizational skills. Proficient computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated experience in writing and/or
securing grants. Experience with diversity and/or social justice
education and leadership training. Experience working for a women's
center at an institution of higher education. Experience working closely
with college age students, faculty and staff. Knowledge of and
participation in national, state, and/or local women's organizations and
agencies. Demonstrated experience in providing advocacy and referrals.
Strong personal qualities of enthusiasm and creativity.
Salary Range: $3,333 to $3,750 per month.
