anyone know anything about this?
Hey All,
Hope all is well! My name is Carmen, and I'm emailing you because I
think you would be interested in a project I'm currently interning for.
I'm currently working with THE LINE Campaign (www.thelinemovie.org (
http://www.thelinemovie.org/ )), a program dedicated to exploring
issues surrounding sexual consent using the documentary film "THE LINE"
as an educational tool. Nancy Schwartzman, the filmmaker, is an activist
and survivor and has brought the film to over 20 universities
nationwide. We are now kicking off a National College Tour where we will
screen the film to create a much needed dialogue about hooking up and
boundaries. The film is about Nancy's personal journey to understand her
sexual assault, and eventually confront the man and film it. Along the
way, there are conversations with lawmakers, activists, football
players, and prostitutes about consent and the grey areas in between.
The film is 24 minutes long, perfect for a screening and then a
question and answer period. It's an engaging, compelling film that is
provocative and not at all finger-wagging or "heavy". It's real and
relates to issues we are all experiencing, especially on college
campuses. Creating a program is a great way to build alliances with
different groups on campus, because it encompasses a lot of related
issues: men's violence prevention, women's groups, public and sexual
health, student life, lgbtq issues, etc. This program is good for events
such as Women's History Month, Take Back the Night, Sexual Health Week
and other similar functions. Nancy is also open to addressing a new
topic if there is an issue or event on your campus that you would like
her to address. You can read more here: www.thelinemovie.org. (

Let me know if you'd be interested in bringing it to campus (and also
let me know if you have any other contacts you think would be
interested)!
Thanks so much,
Carmen

THE LINE is a film that explores the intersection of sexual identity,
power and violence. How do we negotiate our boundaries as sexually
liberated women? How much are we desensitized to sexual violence?
Through conversations with football players, educators, survivors of
violence, prostitutes, and attorneys, this personal film explores the
“grey area” and the elusive line of consent. In an effort to fund the
THE LINE Campaign, inspiring open dialogues about healthy sexual
boundaries, we rely on generous support. If you are able to make an
extra donation, we would greatly appreciate it. Please visit our website
at www.thelinemovie.org ( http://www.thelinemovie.org/ ) for more
information.
