Please forward the following position announcement to anyone you think

The Women's Center at Virginia Tech is current hiring a part time Victim
Advocate. As part of the staff of the Women's Center at Virginia Tech,
the Victim Advocate works 25 hours per week under the direction of the
Co-Director for Services to provide counseling, advocacy, and outreach
to student, staff, and faculty victims of sexual assault, domestic and
relationship violence, and stalking. The Victim Advocate position is
supported by funding received from the Virginia Domestic Violence Victim
Fund from the Department of Criminal Justice Services.
Direct Services: The Victim Advocate will provide crisis response, case
management, individual support, support groups, accompaniment, and
advocacy to survivors of violence or abuse, their families and friends.
The Victim Advocate will collaborate with university departments (e.g.
Student Life Office, Judicial Affairs, Office for Equal Opportunity, law
enforcement agencies, counseling and student health services), and local
community resources as needed (e.g. Women's Resource Center, mental
health and social services). The Victim Advocate will maintain strict
client confidentiality and will be sensitive to the needs of diverse
people and communities including internationally and religiously diverse
clients, racially and economically diverse people, people with
disabilities, and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender clients.
Outreach: The Victim Advocate will provide leadership to outreach
efforts to the following communities: international, LGBTQ and people
with disabilities.
In conjunction with the VT Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) team, and
other on and off campus departments, professional in-service training
will be provided to university personnel, law enforcement, forensic
nurses and others.
Administrative: The Victim Advocate has responsibility for compliance
with grant requirements and is responsible for submitting quarterly
reports to the Department of Criminal Justice.
The Victim Advocate maintains confidential case files, statistical and
demographic information, and complies with all reporting requirements to
the Co-Director for Services of the Women's Center, the University, the
Commonwealth of Virginia, and other officials.
