I wanted to write to my sexual assault prevention colleagues - some of you
are also domestic violence prevention folks, but some of you are not. Either
way, this decision will affect all of us.
National DV groups are taking a survey to possibly switch DVAM away from
October, so as not to conflict with the "pink juggernaut" of Breast Cancer
Awareness (also a worthy cause, but hard to compete with). The alternative
months being considered are September and May - May would make it follow
"our" Sexual Assault Awareness Month in April.
Dual agencies (Sexual violence/domestic violence) would obviously be impacted
by this, since one "awareness month" would immediately follow another. This
could be good or bad - but whatever opinion you have, please vote at the
following website in the next few days:

Until the violence stops, Ben.
