I want to personally thank Monica and Aline for their remarks. I have
contacted some list members privately to remind that this is a list of
colleagues. My reminders are not always taken well. I think Monica stated
it most succinctly, that this is an issue of male privilege and entitlement.
However, as list manager, I am often left in a quandary, should I say
anything or let the list members respond, or even censor? I believe all
members have the right to their opinions, but again, how things are said,
especially in this format, which always seems more intense, is critical. I
hope we can all express ourselves in a way that recognizes that the violence
we are all committed to ending stems from the issues that Monica has raised.
