Hi,
I wanted to share some key documents that Prevention Institute developed
that may be of interest to your readers.
<http://www.preventioninstitute.org/rwjf_ipv.html> Poised for Prevention:
Advancing Promising Approaches to Primary Prevention of Intimate Partner
Violence, May 2007: The report, which showcases the preliminary conclusions
from a national gathering of intimate partner violence (IPV) leaders in
September 2006, describes the vision from which a national primary
prevention strategy can be built.
The last decade of research on violence prevention resulted in the
understanding that violence prevention needs to start earlier and that
acting as early as possible, in the first five years of life, is critical to
success. The First Steps <http://preventioninstitute.org/firststeps.html>
report, funded by the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, and done in
collaboration with Action Alliance for Children and Fight Crime: Invest in
Kids California, synthesizes this research, presents best practices, and
offers a comprehensive strategy to start effective violence prevention
efforts at an early age.
Sexual Violence and <http://www.preventioninstitute.org/SVspectrum.html>
the Spectrum of Prevention: Towards a Community Solution July 2006:
Published by the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, this article
details effective primary prevention activities to reduce the incidence of
sexual violence, emphasizing the importance of changing norms to reshape our
social environment and highlighting examples from throughout the country.
