Hello All,
I also want to mention that Peggy Sanday did a book in 1990 and updated a few
years ago on Fraternity Gang Rape. The book focuses on a frat which pulled a
"train" on a young woman, who still to this day is trying to recover. I
remember after Sanday's book first came out, there was talk about "beaching"
and "ledging" as other premeditated crimes against women involving organized
groups of men. Rape is rape no matter what you call it!
You might want to check out the latest edition for more current information
rapecalled "pulling a train". I d be interested in others thought about this
book as well.
Peace,
Ellie

The "Train" parties are actually influenced by some current
"media
stars" and the pornography industry. For instance, over the years
Howard Stern has had porn stars on his show that are about to "go for
the record" with a train scene. The record is how many guys the woman
will have sex with in a given set of time. The Train can be either
oral, intercourse, or anal.
About a year ago, there was mention of the "Rainbow" in limited media
coverage. While it was found to be occurring, no numbers/frequency
could be established. Some parents have heard of these "Train" and
"Rainbow" events -- seemingly through the rumor mill, but these same
parents we meet across the country never seem to know of an actual case.
When I speak in schools, often I'll receive e-mails of students
sharing concerning behaviors (of themselves or their peers engaging in
risky/dangerous behaviors). We are still not receiving any
communications mentioning an actual "Rainbow" situation. Considering
the honesty and upfront communication we do often receive, this
"missing" component from these e-mails does leave some hope that the
"Train" and "Rainbow" situations are not happening often.
Of course,
any occurrence is dangerous and clearly needs to be addressed.

Beetles and Spanish Fly may be the same if not similar drugs. Spanish
Fly is a drug used in the incitement purposes of mating farm animals.
It is illegal in the US except for very few purposes (one being animal
husbandry and the other to treat certain type of warts. Spanish fly is
a type of beetle-why I am thinking that they may be calling it that
interchangeably.
The beetle contains up to 5% cantharidin. The cantharides excreted in
the urine irritate the urethral passages, causing inflammation in the
genitals. For this reason, Spanish fly has been given to humans for
purposes of seduction. It is dangerous since the amount required is
minuscule and the difference between the effective dose and the harmful
dose is quite narrow. Cantharides cause painful urination, fever, and
sometimes bloody discharge. They can cause permanent damage to the
kidneys and genitals. Also it was used as an abortifacient, stimulant
(since one of its effects was producing insomnia and nervous agitation),
and as a poison; in powder, mixed with the food, it could go unnoticed.
Although illegal in the USA, it can be found on the internet and is
often called Mexican Spanish Fly, Spanish Fly Potion, Herbal Spanish Fly
but these are supposed to be homeopathic drugs. However if it is in
other places, I am sure it will not be long before it is available here
through the internet-which as it sounds by the conversation that you had
with your student, it is.
I heard it about this drug back when I was going out to the clubs and
looked it up to find out more about it. Had not heard about it in
sometime, but maybe it is getting popular again.
Also similar to the train parties are the Rainbow parties. It is when
woman/girl (and I say girls because it is very popular with the high
school students) wear different shades of lip stick and perform oral sex
on groups of men-hence the rainbow.

Subject: Spanish Fly & Beetle & Train parties?
Hey there -
One of my students told me about a male friend of hers saying he knew
someone that gave a woman spanish fly (some kind of drug) to rape her.
I looked this up and only found out a little information about it -
someone also wrote about a new drug to facilitate rape called beetle -
has anyone seen this stuff or does anyone know more information about it
to share?
Also, a colleague from another university just told me about train
parties - parties on campus in which a couple of women stay in a room
all night while men pay to get in - "have sex with" them and give
their
money to a "host" who then keeps some of the money and gives the
women
some too. She said that the women give out handbills to come to their
parties on thursdays and fridays around campus. Has anyone else seen
this or heard about it?
Thanks so much,
Juliette
