The first Men Can Stop Rape Campus Strength Training open to college
students, staff and faculty from around the country will be Saturday and
Sunday, January 24-25, in Washington, DC. It will be hosted by the
Georgetown University Law Center.
Campus Strength trainings focus on harnessing the power that college
students have to make positive changes on their campuses. By incorporating
both the theories of working with college men and practical exercises and
activities to engage them, participants will improve their organizing skills
to start a new organization on their campuses devoted to ending violence
against women, or improve an existing group. Full details about the Campus
Strength Program are available on Men Can Stop Rape's website at
http://www.mencanstoprape.org/info-url2697/info-url_list.htm?section=CAMPUS%
20STRENGTH%20PROGRAM
The training will also include sample meeting and training agendas, and
logistical support and information on effectively running a group on campus,
from meeting and discussion topics to fundraising, recruiting and publicity.
The training is designed to support not only student men engaging other men
in the context of a campus men's group, but also women students, faculty and
staff who are interested in helping to start, support or facilitate a men's
group on their campus, or are engaging men in other ways. All are welcome
and encouraged to attend.
Men Creating Change chapters are required to have at least two members
attend a Campus Strength training, or you can bring MCSR to campus to train
your organization and allies. Campus Strength Affiliates are also encouraged
to come to a training or bring MCSR to campus. Schools that are not
currently members of the Campus Strength Program may attend as the first
step to joining the program. To learn more about upcoming trainings or
bringing MCSR to your campus, contact Joseph Vess at
