Men Can Stop Rape, Inc. (MCSR), an international organization that mobilizes
young men to prevent gender violence, seeks an experienced, passionate
Community Education Coordinator to grow its national youth development
program, the Men of Strength (MOST) Club.
Identified by the Centers for Disease Control as one of the country's top
four gender violence prevention programs, MOST Club has provided over 2,000
high school men with a structured and supportive space to build and embrace
individualized definitions of masculinity that promote safe, healthy, and
equitable relationships. Working with the Vice President of Programs, the
Coordinator will be responsible for facilitating local sites, developing and
overseeing programming, coordinating events at the local and national level,
and developing new sites around the country.
About Men Can Stop Rape, Inc. (MCSR):
MCSR is a Washington, DC-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to
mobilize young men to use their strength for creating cultures free from
violence, especially violence against women.
As part of the "Strength Campaign," a unified and comprehensive education
initiative, MCSR provides youth development, public education messaging, and
leadership training to agencies, schools, and organizations worldwide. MOST
Club currently has 50 sites in cities throughout the country; in 2007, MOST
Club launched in every public high school in the District of Columbia.
Responsibilities:
. Facilitate local MOST Club sites
. Collaborate with the VP of Programs for administrative oversight of local
and national MOST Club activities
. Coordinate each site's community service projects
. Develop new educational programs/curricula/materials
. Assist in evaluating the impact of programs
. Develop new sites and assist with the training of new MOST Club
facilitators
. Conduct awareness-to-action workshops with local high school and
college-age youth, as well as youth-serving professionals
. Generate new speaking opportunities with local schools and youth-serving
institutions
. Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
. Must own a car and posses a valid state driver's license (required)
. High School Diploma or equivalent
. 4-5 years experience in youth education as well as a passion for
youth-development
. 2-3 years experience planning and coordinating events
. Ability to work with youth and adults of varying backgrounds and
socio-economic levels
. Familiarity with violence prevention issues, particularly among men and
boys
. Excellent public speaking, verbal, and written communication skills
. Proficient with Microsoft Office programs
. Organized and strategic
. Excellent interpersonal skills and team player
. Must be available for occasional evenings, weekends, and travel
Hours:
Forty hours per week, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. This is an exempt
position that requires daily local travel and occasional extended work
hours.
Salary and benefits:
Salary starts at $35k. Comprehensive benefits include vacation, sick,
personal, holiday pay, medical, dental, vision, and a 403(b) retirement
plan.
