Director, Rape Prevention Education Program
University of California at Santa Barbara
Summary of duties
Working under general direction for the Women's Center, has full programmatic
responsibility for the campus-wide gender-violence program. Develops
strategies and programs that target specific populations in the community,
including Greeks, athletes, faculty, on-campus residents, perpetrators,
significant others and survivors. Serves as an advocate, coordinator and
University spokesperson for all campus-wide gender violence issues related to
students, staff, faculty and the Santa Barbara community. Possesses a broad
knowledge of University policies and procedures and has a strong theoretical
and philosophical foundation in student affairs. Has specialized expertise
and knowledge of the effects of sexual assault on victims, survivor recovery,
medical and legal procedures. Is directly responsible for supervision of
staff and the education of students, staff and faculty
Requirements
Demonstrated experience working with both sexual violence prevention
education and advocacy for those affected by sexual violence. Knowledge of
and experience with sexual violence issues in institutions of higher
education.
Ability to interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
Ability to work in a team and to build coalitions and partnerships.
Understanding of sexual violence as a societal issue and commitment to
activism for social justice.
Desirable
Master's degree or BA with equivalent experience.
Experience working with law enforcement.
