Hello, friends in sexual assault prevention! I received this email from Men
Can Stop Rape - they are seeking cosponsors for their upcoming national
conference this April. I respect and support this organization and the work
they do - this conference is an admirable next step in that work and I hope
you'll join me in supporting them. See below for details.

Dear Madam/Sir,
On behalf of Men Can Stop Rape and its Board of Directors, I would like to
thank you for your interest in co-sponsoring the first National Conference on
the Primary Prevention of Men's Violence Against Women.
Our conference theme, "Men and Women as Allies," will strengthen existing
partnerships and build new connections. Organizations and agencies from
across the country and world will gather on April 14-15, 2009 at the Hyatt
Regency Washington in Washington, D.C., to hear keynote addresses by members
of the new presidential administration, meet with members of congress, attend
presentations on progressive theory and practice, and engage in funding and
networking opportunities.
While co-sponsorship does not require a financial commitment from your
organization, it will involve your help in identifying potential speakers and
suggesting ideas for special events, workshops, and recruitment. As a member
of the conference planning committee, a designated delegate from your
organization will be asked to provide suggestions via conference calls or
e-mail.
Among the many benefits of your co-sponsorship will be the inclusion of
your organization in promotional materials, including conference letterheads
and brochures. Representatives from many organizations will have the
opportunity to speak on panels and contribute to conference activities.
I will attempt to contact you in the coming weeks using the contact
information you have provided. I hope that you will join us in this exciting
endeavor, and I look forward to the opportunity of sharing a commitment with
your organization for years to come. I believe "Men and Women as Allies" will
develop a practical unity among primary prevention service providers by
integrating our efforts, heightening our leadership, and developing our
presence among members of congress, the media, donors, and the public.
Sincerely,
Stephen Glaude

Quote of the Month: August 2008:
It is a violation of human rights when individual women are raped in their
own communities and when thousands of women are subjected to rape as a tactic
or prize of war. It is a violation of human rights when a leading cause of
death worldwide along women ages 14 to 44 is the violence they are subjected
to in their own homes.
