Hi Shari,
Second Life is a virtual reality world where people can construct their
own identity, interact with others, travel--basically a second life. We
have some professors that conduct classes in second life. I initially
created an avatar but was attacked by another and never went back. We
had a student come to us who had to do the same for her class and was
"raped" by another person in her class in Second Life.
She feels traumatized and I'm wondering if anyone else has had to
respond to this.

Hi Claire & Wanda,
I have just learned about virtual experiences like Second Life &
Avatars earlier this year....but I still need some more information and
perhaps others may too.  Could you give some more information about
Second Life & Avatars?  I think this is definitely something we should
address and we need to keep up with technology and how students (and
others) are using it, etc.
This is an amazingly progressive question and I hope we can have some
more discussion and information about this. THANKS!

I don't think this posted properly when Wanda sent it, so I'm posting
it for her.

Have any of you coordinated any response to virtual rape--like in
Second Life?
