Elizabeth's question made me realize I need to update you and to outreach to
all of you. After Learning Publications ended, Alan McEvoy and I (and
friends/colleagues we've collected along the way) created Teal Ribbon
Publications as a small specialty house specifically devoted to solutions to
violence non-fiction. It is a second job for all of us but close to our
hearts so we tend to make slow but steady progress. One of our key projects
is to keep in print and add to the booklet series for friends, families and
supporters of sexual assault victims. We are hoping to have our new list of
32-page booklets available in April which will include:
1. an updated and revised "If She is Raped" by Alan McEvoy and Jeff Brookings;
2. a new booklet by Nora Baladerian primarily aimed at supporters of persons
with communications difficulties and similar disabilities who have been
sexually victimized;
3. a new booklet by Zak Mucha entitled "If a person with a mental illness is
raped"
4. a new booklet by Flora Colao entitled "If your child has witnessed sexual
violence"
and 5. an updated and revised version of "If He is Raped" (which we hope will
be completed in time for the April list.)
By then we also hope to have a more interactive website up and running but in
the meantime you can find our contact information on a static page at
www.tealribbonpublications.com
or you can simply email us at
We are looking to you for ideas to expand our booklet series. If you have a
topic you'd like to see us publish or a submission or proposal, please
contact me offlist at
I'll update you on our other projects and publications as they become
available but to end on a fun note: once our website is up, we will be asking
for your contributions to a cookbook called "Stirring the Pot". The recipe
must come with a paragraph about your work in the field. When our cookbook
editors have completed their work, we'll be offering "Stirring the Pot" at
cost as a fundraiser for people in our field.
Keep your strength,
Alice
