What is missing from the youtube piece is an understanding of the mythos of
patriarchy that came into central and southern Europe, Asia Minor, and the
fertile crescent about 6,000 years ago. Archeological evidence suggests that
prior to that time, the settled cultures of those areas lived in relative
piece with equalitarian socieities and settlements of mixed races. The
peoples of this area shared a mythos where life and the bringing of live into
the world was held sacred. Succinctly put, they worshiped the womb over the
tomb. It appears that it was with the invasion of patriarchal, pastoral
cultures that conquest and wide spread violence, including normalizing
violence against women, became the norm. It is worth considering the way our
mythos influences and ethos and values.
