Hello!
I am the Victim Advocate at Pacific Lutheran University in Washington State. Our program is grant funded and in the second year of existence. I am working on developing a policy related to my position so that students and the University have a clear understanding of the boundaries of my role. I would like to have the input from others who have a similar position, especially if you have a social work background. My questions are:
1. Do you guarantee confidentiality? If so, are you covered by advocate privilege in your state? If not, how do you deal with victim's privacy?
2. Do you ask students to sign releases of information or any other waivers? If so, are you willing to share examples?
3. Do you participate in any type of wrap around groups or meeting to address critical events on campus (i.e. a recent assault, student of concern)? If so, what does this look like?
I really appreciate any feedback! Thanks!
