EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
CASA MYRNA VAZQUEZ
OVERVIEW OF ORGANIZATION
Casa Myrna Vazquez is a Boston-based, multicultural organization dedicated to
addressing and ending domestic violence in the lives of women and children
through advocacy, prevention and intervention programs. What began in 1977 as
a single shelter staffed by volunteers has grown into New England's foremost
provider of shelter and comprehensive services to victims of domestic
violence. Casa Myrna's services include SafeLink, a 24/7 toll-free, statewide
domestic violence hotline and an emergency shelter and two transitional
living programs in the city of Boston for women and children made homeless by
domestic violence. Casa Myrna also provides a comprehensive range of
community based programs addressing the needs of individuals affected by
domestic violence, including legal advocacy services, housing search
assistance, mental health counseling, parenting education, children's
services, and economic development workshops and counseling. The agency is
also involved in prevention through its peer-led teen dating violence
prevention program, public advocacy efforts and educational outreach to the
community on the issue of domestic violence.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITY
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director serves as the
chief executive and operating officer of CMV with overall responsibility for
the planning, implementation, administration and management of all agency
programs, services and systems. The Executive Director will work closely
with the Board of Directors and the senior management team to plan and
implement agency priorities.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Provide professional and comprehensive support to the Board and
operating committees as needed
• Lead a strategic assessment of the organization and produce and
implement a new strategic plan, establishing a sustainable, well-articulated
vision for the future within the first year of employment
• Facilitate program development, implementation, maintenance and
evaluation, developing an agency-wide system of program evaluation
• Assist in developing and implementing a fundraising plan for CMV,
including corporate, foundation, government, and individual fundraising
components
• Maintain responsibility for the fiscal health of the organization
through overseeing CMVs operating and capital budgets. The annual operating
budget is $3M.
• Direct the work of the organization through supervision of the senior
management team
• Represent CMV in an extremely wide and highly visible range of
situations where she/he will be expected to provide confidence-inspiring
leadership, reflecting the values and professionalism of the organization and
maintaining a positive public image of CMV.
• Sustain CMV's commitment to multiculturalism at all levels, and be
attentive to all aspects of internal management and team building within the
organization, assuring that all parts of the organization are working toward
the same goals.
• Provide motivational leadership to the 50+ employees
QUALIFICATIONS
• At least five years experience managing organization of similar size and
complexity, including experience overseeing multi-site programs
• Demonstrated success in budgeting and finance, program development,
implementation, fundraising and evaluation, public advocacy, and strategic
planning
• Proven ability to fundraise in areas of individual, corporate,
foundation, and government giving/grants
• Excellent communication, written, and organizational skills
• Ability to effectively and efficiently multi-task
• Unswerving commitment to bettering the lives of women and children
• Self-directed work style, balanced with the ability to work
collaboratively
• Advanced degree in a related field strongly preferred

The salary for this position is competitive and includes a generous benefits
