Hello,

Here on our campus we've been brainstorming about possible responses to different assault scenarios, and some questions about limits to confidentiality were raised.

For those working directly with students as advocates, crisis intervention workers and/or educators, what are your limits to confidentiality?

For instance, if a student discloses identifying information about a physically violent incident involving another student, or any other incident where you feel the perpetrator may be a danger to other students or individuals on campus, but the survivor does not want to involve campus police and/or student conduct, do you have an obligation to divulge the identity of the perpetrator as part of an anonymous report or otherwise?

If so, do you make a disclosure to students as you meet with them regarding your limits to confidentiality and anonymous reporting? Do you have a form or script you use?

Any information (or  samples) would be helpful.

All the best,
