Hello
In 1997 we implemented a policy that campus and local law enforcement
agencies adhere to. Basically it states that if a survivor or friend is
reporting a crime of sexual aggression they will not be charged with any
drug or alcohol violations. It is not in writing, but is addressed
yearly through training.

The Family Violence Prevention Fund is currently looking for young
women age 20-24 who can speak on their experience with intimate
partner violence and reproductive health issues. The FVPF is
developing a national public education campaign on the link between
violence against women and reproductive health. The
campaign, "Changing the Story: Violence Against Women and
Reproductive Health", will engage young women age 20-24 on the link
between violence and unplanned pregnancy, as well as issues of
reproductive control, including birth control sabotage, forced
abortion and forced pregnancy. A critical aspect of this campaign is
to capture the real stories of young women who have experienced
issues of reproductive control in their relationships. These stories
will be part of a national media campaign focused on reaching the
target age group through magazine publications.
The FVPF would like to conduct confidential interviews with young
women in the aforementioned age group to be used anonymously as
quotes, tags and short articles, or full feature stories in magazine
publications. Targeted magazines include publications read by the
target audience, e.g., JANE, Latina, and Essence. Stories will be
published to engage young women age 20-24, and will get them to Know
the Link through the personal stories of other young women in their
age cohort.
If you could please circulate this e-mail to your membership, and if
you know of anyone would like to share their story please contact
Jeanine Hays, Program and Policy Specialist, Family Violence
Prevention Fund at 415-252-8900 x. 13 or

Yes, exactly. Including, if you are drunk and you see someone being
raped, and call the police, you will not get an alcohol violation. The
DeAnza case sets a good picture. If those two women (or 3) had been
really intoxicated and underage but called the police in that
circumstance, I strongly believe that there should be a policy exempting
them from any alcohol violation. Some schools call this a good
samaritan policy.
I am specifically looking for these from any of our peer institutions:
UFL
Georgia Tech
Iowa State
Michigan State
Ohio State
Penn State
Purdue
UC-Davis
UGA
Uill-Urbana Champaign
U Maryland
U Minnesota
Texas A&M
UWISC-Madison
VA Tech
Thank you!

What kind of amnesty? Underage alcohol consumption, drugs or something
else?
Bucknell had a policy like that for alcohol, for example if you got
help
for a student who was super drunk and in danger of alcohol poisoning,
other underage and drunk students would not get in trouble if they
called for help and someone from the U came in and saw alcohol policy
violations.

Subject: Amnesty Policies and bystander programs
Hello everyone-
As our campus prevention programs begin to strongly encourage the
practice of being a prosocial bystander, our campus Alliance for
Sexual
Assault Prevention group has been struggling with how to really be
able
to do this without an amnesty policy on campus. We are starting to
look
at what other campuses are doing and I am wondering if any of you have
rewritten your policies on campus to include this and/or what kinds of
policies (if any) do you have to encourage active bystander behavior
with amnesty if necessary?
Thank you-
Juliette
