THE NATIONAL CENTER FOR HIGHER EDUCATION RISK MANAGEMENT (NCHERM)=20
www.ncherm.org=20
ANNOUNCES AN UPCOMING WEBINAR=20
FRIDAY, JUNE 8TH, 2007=20
1:00=E2=80=942:30pm Eastern Daylight Time=20
Legal Issues for Campus Counselors and Therapists=20
Presented by: =20
Brett A. Sokolow, J.D. and Carolyn Reinach Wolf, Esq.=20
DETAILS ARE POSTED AT _WWW.NCHERM.ORG_ (http://www.ncherm.org/) =20
NCHERM is a leader in providing you with seminars that are relevant, timely=
=20
and full of useful practice tips. =20
Every campus struggles with questions about what counselors should know,=20
what they should disclose to others, and how should they straddle the somet=
imes=20
divided loyalties between their employment obligations and their profession=
al=20
ethics. In this webinar, we=E2=80=99ll offer a legal update on pressing is=
sues for=20
campus counselors and therapists, including:=20
=C3=98 Confidentiality of Records; =20
=C3=98 Clarification of FERPA: fact/fiction; =20
=C3=98 Release of information between and among health care
providers=20=
and=20
HIPAA =20
=C3=98 Administrators and law enforcement; =20
=C3=98 Parental notification;=20
=C3=98 Duty to warn; =20
=C3=98 Documentation of Records; =20
=C3=98 Campus Risk Management; =20
=C3=98 Security and Safety Concerns: Before and During a Crisis.=20
Join us for this event and get an update on these crucial issues and
more.=20=
=20
Pose your own questions to the presenters throughout the event.=20
HOW A WEBINAR WORKS=20
Webinars are cost-effective because everything you need is already in your=20
office -- a telephone and a computer. Webinars are large-group conference=
=20
calls where you can follow along online with our PowerPoint. You can even=20
project the PowerPoint via an LCD projector for group participation by your=
staff.=20
Each registrant can call in from one telephone line on campus, so you migh=
t=20
arrange to use a phone in a conference room, where your staff and=20
administrators can listen and participate via speakerphone. You can also p=
urchase =20
additional lines for multiple campus call-in locations for a moderate surch=
arge.=20
You will receive a call-in 800 number and a PIN for the day of the
event.=20=
=20
Once you join the call, you will be able to hear the presenters and ask=20
questions via phone, while viewing the Power Point online. We do not broad=
cast =20
audio over the Internet, so you will need both a telephone and an Internet =20
connection. Once you register, you will receive a confirmation email the w=
eek=20
before the event, containing the call-in and PIN numbers, as well as the UR=
L=20
for the PowerPoint.=20
INTENDED PARTICIPANTS: =20
=20
=C3=98 Campus counselors -- psychologists, therapists, social
workers=20=
and=20
psychiatrists=20
=C3=98 Campus Health Service Providers=20
