I agree Anamarie and unfortunately I don't at this time even have the
eloquence to write
what I really feel about it, but i am a poet so i'll be working on a
piece...As for now my thoughts/feelings are really raw:
I am sad and worried about possible civil suits
against the survivor that reported (duke), i'm worried about her children and
her spirit!
I'm pissed off about imus and what his comments have done unknowningly and
knowningly to
the spirits of young black women and young women with kinky, extra tight
curled, and yes nappy hair.
I'm worried so much that it makes me cry (even as i write this email). i'm
so worried about the number of
black women and black girls and girls/women with kinky, extra tight curled,
and yes nappy hair that look up to
barbie (with her straight locks), that search the beauty supply store
counters for longer and even straighter blond,
weave tracks to either glue or sew into their beautifully God given locks.
I'm so worried about what his comments will do
to our women (myself included) in the near and distant future.
i'm pissed off about snoop dogg
(http://www.kptv.com/entertainment/11814452/detail.html) that has the nerve
to clarify what kind of "ho's" he and some
(all of hip hop isn't about calling women bitches and ho's --- for those that
don't listen to the music....don't believe the hype)
other rappers are talking about. i'm pissed off because he has further
marginalized black and poor women that live in the 'hood' who in his words
(loosely)
are trying to get a 'niggas' money; essentially what i take away is that he
is also talking about the woman/survivor that reported (duke).
i'm really sad about the lives that were lost at VA Tech and because i don't
know much about what's going on down there (none of us really do).
i can't really go into detail...
thanks Anamarie for helping me in waking up my all of my senses this morning!
Peace,
Leah

Colleagues,
There is so much to lament and to grieve about this week, especially
concerning the tragedy at VA Tech. My sympathies are with the many people
affected so deeply there.
But I am also grieving how the Duke case has ended. It is so sad that such
great effort went into seeking justice and now it's such a mess. Was Nifong
really out-of-bounds? or was he a victim of some kind?
Wendy and others who have spoken so eloquently about the Duke case previously,
would you please comment and explain what you think is really happening?
Anamarie
