Dear Colleague:
I am writing to enlist your assistance in identifying candidates for the
position of Counselor at Dartmouth College. To summarize the job description
(full description listed below), Counseling and Human Development (CHD) is
seeking a clinician with established clinical and outreach experience.
Responsibilities include providing individual and group counseling to
undergraduate and graduate students, designing and implementing campus wide
educational programs promoting psychological well-being, and providing crisis
and emergency services including on-call coverage.
CHD is the main department for psychological services at Dartmouth College
and is housed within Dartmouth College Health Service, under the leadership
of the Dean of the College. We are a multidisciplinary team of clinical
social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists who provide services to
Dartmouth undergraduate and graduate students.
Dartmouth, a member of the Ivy League, is a private, residential, liberal
arts undergraduate college with graduate schools in business, engineering,
medicine and the arts and sciences. The College is a diverse institution that
serves over 4000 undergraduates and 1600 graduate students. Dartmouth College
continues to grow and is an exciting place to be. We have opened two new
residential clusters housing approximately 500 students, are completing
extensive renovations to our athletic and recreational facilities, and are at
the half-way point in a $1.3 billion campaign.
The College has continued to strengthen the diversity of our community and
was recently ranked number 10 by Hispanic Magazine, in its ranking of the Top
25 Colleges for Latinos (March 2006), as well as being named one of the top
100 gay-friendly colleges/universities in the country by the Advocate College
Guide for LGBT Students (endorsed by gay and lesbian news magazine The
Advocate). Also, Black Enterprise magazine included Dartmouth in their list
of Top 50 Colleges for African Americans. Approximately 29% of our
undergraduates are students of color and our faculty includes the highest
percentage of tenured women in the Ivy League. The Counseling and Human
Development staff is an integral part of this exciting and energetic
community.
Dartmouth College is committed to creating a diverse and talented
professional community and, as part of its commitment to affirmative action
and equal opportunity, strongly encourages the application of women and
minorities.
