End Violence Against Women (EVAW) International is pleased to announce:
* The Launch of the On Line Training Institute for Sexual
Assault Response
* The Speakers and Agenda for the 2007 Conference in Houston
Sexual Assault On Line Training Institute
EVAW International has launched the On Line Training Institute* (OLTI),
a state-of-the-art training tool
intended for law enforcement and other professionals involved in the
criminal justice and community
response to sexual assault. The OLTI promotes a multi-disciplinary
community response with particular
emphasis on sex crimes committed by someone who is known to the victim
(i.e. non-strangers).
Enrolling in the OLTI is a simple process, and any professional
interested in finding out more can enroll in
an introductory module absolutely free of charge. The introductory
module is entitled: "Effective Report
Writing: Using the Language of Non-Consensual Sex," and it is designed
to help investigators conduct a
preliminary victim interview and write a report that will support
successful prosecution.
Other modules in the OLTI address such critical topics as:
* Dynamics: What Does Sexual Assault Really Look Like?
* Victim Impact: How Victims are Affected by Sexual Assault and
How Law Enforcement
Professionals Can Respond Successfully
* Preliminary Investigation: Guidelines for First Responders
* Law and Investigative Strategy: What Kind of Sexual Assault Is
This?
* Interviewing the Victim: Techniques Based on the Realistic
Dynamics of Sexual Assault
* False Reports: Moving Beyond the Issue to Successfully
Investigate and Prosecute Non-
Stranger Sexual Assault
Beyond the free, introductory module, community professionals can also
sign up for other
training topics for a nominal fee of $50 per module or $200 for a track
of six modules. Agencies
registering 30 or more people for the OLTI will receive an additional
discount of $25 off the price of each
track of six modules. With this group discount, the price is $175 -- an
average of only $29 per module.
Certificates will be issued upon successful completion of each module.
