I posted this a few weeks ago, and the attachment didn't come through
(which was OK since we missed a few administrative details.)  However,
here it is.  St Mary's is south of Washington DC and Baltimore.  Please
share this position with anyone whom you feel would be interested.

 

Shawn MacDonald

 

St. Mary's College of Maryland, a coed public honors college of 1,800
students, seeks a Sexual Assault Response & Prevention (SARP)
Coordinator.  This is a half-time 12-month position with no benefits.
The pay is $22.50/hour.  This position reports directly to the Director
of Counseling and is responsible for working with the campus community
to develop a campus climate that promotes responsible and consensual
sexual behavior as well as coordinating responses to incidents of
non-consensual sexual behavior.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

*        Develop and coordinate a system for first responders to sexual
assault including development of policies and procedures, provision of
training, and serving as a resource person for first responders.

*        Serve as a primary advocate and resource for students who have
experienced sexual assault and make appropriate referrals to campus and
community agencies.

*        Coordinate campus communication regarding sexual assault
response and prevention including the development of web-site and
electronic materials and print materials.

*        Develop and implement systematic campus programs for the
prevention of sexual assault.

*        Keep current on research concerning sexual assault on college
campuses, especially research on effective campus programming and
education/prevention strategies (readings, conferences, and training
events).

*        Identify and coordinate in-service training opportunities to
deepen the knowledge of professional staff related to sexual assault.

*        Evaluate the need for new kinds of programming or campus
initiatives concerning sexual assault.

*        Serve as a liaison between students, staff, faculty and Public
Safety in this area.

*        Coordinate and maintain the avenue for confidential/anonymous
reporting of sexual assault and related incidents.

*        Serve on the standing student life policy committee ensuring
that the issues specific to sexual assault are represented.  

*        Stay informed about judicial board procedures, campus policies,
and state statutes regarding sexual assault.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

*       Bachelor's degree in a field related to the position such as
psychology, social work, sociology, women's or gender studies, health or
family studies.  
*       Demonstrated record of work with sexual assault prevention and
response programs on college campuses (preferred) or in community
agencies.  

*       Demonstrated leadership ability in the area of sexual assault
response and prevention.
