We also organize a campus/community TBTN each year and do have a 10
minute segment reserved for survivors to speak.  Although I understand
the concern about psychological well being and that publicly speaking
can set someone back if they are not ready, I also believe that we need
to allow survivors free will and not put to many barriers in front of
them to be able to speak.  

We always assign a committee member to be a stage person and she does
speak briefly with each speaker before they go on stage and we do
control the time that they can speak with someone on the stage sitting
on a stool next to the microphone to remind them when their time is up.
