Hello everyone,
I spoke with a local reporter who is doing a story on sexual
assault/abuse perpetrated while someone is passed out. Specifically, it
had recently come to her attention that individuals are taking naked
pictures of passed-out women or even videotaping themselves having sex
with someone (sometimes someone too drunk to respond) - and then posting
them on the internet. We discussed how passing around these pictures -
which are nonconsensual regardless of the consent of the activities - is
sexual violence, and how this is just a new example of men
nonconsensually passing around images of women who trusted them. The
internet just gives it more range.
We are going to do an interview on Monday, and I wanted to be able
to incorporate how y'all see this issue in your particular community. Do
you know about this occurring in your community or on your campus? If
so, where/how does it happen? What are the responses of the
community/campus? If you could just drop me a quick blurb before Monday,
that would be swell. Thanks for your work & brainpower!
Peace,
Ross
