Health Educator with Special Expertise in Sexual Assault Prevention
Northwestern University invites applications for the position of Health
Educator with Special Expertise in Sexual Assault Prevention. This
individual will be primarily responsible for development, promotion,
marketing, implementation, and evaluation of programming and other
efforts targeted to the reduction of sexual assault and other
interpersonal/relationship violence. In addition, he or she will take a
leadership role in coordinating the University's response to sexual
assault and relationship violence. Such efforts should be based on sound
theory and evidence-based practice, and the Health Educator should be
committed to advancing the knowledge base of the field of health
education. In addition, this individual may also participate in other
Health Education activities related to alcohol and other drug abuse,
smoking, sexually transmitted diseases, disordered eating, nutrition,
and physical fitness. The Health Educator with Special Expertise in
Sexual Assault Prevention will be expected to engage in
interdisciplinary, campus-wide programs that interdigitate with the
Division of Student Affairs, Residential and Greek Life, the Office of
Judicial Affairs, Athletics and other units within the University
including the various academic entities.
Job Requirements
* Master's degree, preferably in a
health-related field
* Experience with primary and secondary
prevention initiatives in college health
* Experience in a college or university
setting
* Knowledge or experience in evaluation
and outcome assessment
* Demonstrated commitment to diversity and
ability to work in a multicultural environment
* Ability to prepare and effectively
deliver educational programs and materials pertinent to university
students
* Ability to collaboratively partner with
a multitude of stakeholders, on- and off-campus
* Excellent communication (written and
verbal) as well as general interpersonal skills
* Solid proficiency with Microsoft Word,
PowerPoint, and Excel as well as other relevant computer software (e.g.
Adobe Photoshop and Acrobat)
Additional Preferred Qualifications
* Knowledge or experience in epidemiology,
the Standards and Practice for Health Promotion in Higher Education, and
Health Campus 2010
* Current CHES certification
* Web page content development and
maintenance skills.
* Personality attributes include
integrity, initiative, organization, energy, curiosity, creativity, and
a willingness to take risks
* A sense of humor is essential
The position is a full-time, 12 month exempt position within the Health
Education Unit of the University Health Service. Flexibility in work
hours, to include some evening and weekends, is required. To apply,
