At the University of Illinois at Urbana, the Counseling Center and student
health services, along with the theatre department, collaboratively fund &
support a group called "Inner Voices Social Issues Theatre." The troupe
writes, performs, and facilitates dialogues for a range of topics, from
relationships to sexual violence to coming out to HIV/AIDS. Really a gambit
of topics. Our office has worked closely with them on the sexual violence
piece.
Students are able to get credit for three different areas of involvement 1)
script writing, 2) facilitation, 3) acting. For more information, you can
contact Lisa Fay at
or you can go online to http://www.innervoices.uiuc.edu/
Good luck!
Peace,
Ross

Subject: Educational Theatre
Hello from Oberlin College-
If anyone can recommend a good peer theatre troupe as a model program,
I'd be interested in learning more. We are thinking of establishing a
group at Oberlin College to provide edu-theatre on sexualized violence
both to college students and perhaps in our local high school.
I can post what I learn.
Thanks!
