Agnes Scott College seeks candidates for the position of Director of Personal 
Counseling. The position is full-time for 10-months (August-May). Agnes Scott 
College is a highly selective, independent national liberal arts college for 
women located in metropolitan Atlanta. The College offers a vibrant and 
intellectually challenging environment with a rich and active cultural life.

 

The director, as a member of the student life division, provides leadership 
and oversight for operations of comprehensive student personal counseling 
services, providing professional, ethical, and quality short-term counseling, 
consultation, referral and outreach services to help students obtain the 
maximum benefit from their college experience. 

 

Responsibilities:  Provide direction and leadership for college personal 
counseling services. Supervise two staff counselors and psychology practicum 
training program. Manage relationship with consulting psychiatrist. Provide 
broad-spectrum, brief, individual and group counseling and psychotherapy, 
assessment, and crisis intervention. Provide psychological consultation and 
backup for staff carrying emergency pager. Serve as campus and professional 
organization liaison. Provide outreach and wellness programming to students.

Qualifications: Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology (Program and 
Internship APA-accredited) with 2-3 years of post-license experience 
required. Licensed or license-eligible as a psychologist in Georgia.  
Previous university counseling center clinical and administrative experience 
required. Candidates should have broad, "generalist" clinical skills, 
including experience assessing and intervening with a range of disorders, 
concerns, and degrees of pathology, strong communication and organizational 
skills and multicultural competence.

should be able to demonstrate excellent organizational and communication 
skills, experience with diverse populations, skills and interest in

an ability to inspire confidence are very desirable assets.
