Friends,

We've screened No! and had the filmmaker talk. She is terrific and the film is very powerful

Also, SOARS, presented by A Long Walk Home (alongwalkhome.com) is terrific. A multi-media piece that focuses on one woman's healing from sexual assault. They also facilitated a workshop about Race, Sexual Assault and Athletes that was fantastic.

Just my two cents.

I'd also like to proclaim how great Reanae McNeal was. She presents a
fantastic(!!!) performance called "Don't Speak My Mother's Name in
Vain", that details the lives of seven black women through the past 100
years and how their lives have been affected by racism, sexism, and
violence against women. http://www.rmcneal.com/womanist.php  Moreover,
many speakers (and this isn't their fault always) are pretty expensive,
but Reanae provided many presentations and interaction opportunities for
a very affordable cost. Great for both campuses and the community, and
it begins some fantastic dialogues.

I've also heard the No! documentary was fantastic. It was screened on
our campus a few weeks ago, and students/staff/faculty/community are
still talking about it.

Peace,
Ross

Can we all send in our endorsements, as someone like myself that is
joing higher ed for the first time, i'd like to see what other schools
have done for SAAM.  And what you def. would not recommend.

I have a question about a few folks i'm thinking of bringing up:
Equalogy??? any thoughts

I heard that "No! The Rape Documentary" was fab?? i'm actually expecting
a sample video from them any day now??? any thoughts
(www.notherapedocumentary.org)

I also heard that Byron Hurt (www.bhurt.com) was great too in addressing
mysogony & sexual violence/DV in hip hop culture??? any thoughts

Well thanks in advance for all the gem's

A friend of mine at DOJ sent this to me. It utilizes information from a
2002 report (Campus Sexual Assault: How America's Institutions of Higher
Education Respond), but this is more current. I thought y'all might like
to take a look. Seems like a useful way to justify services we provide
to higher education institutions.
