This position is a community position in Greenfield Massachusetts with
the local domestic violence/rape crisis center.
New Englsand Learning Center for Women in Transition is one of the
oldest domestic violence agencies in the contry.
The SurviviorsProject is unique in it peer -empowerment approach.
Survivors' Project Counselor-Coordinator
The Survivors' Project is designed to meet the needs of women survivors
of trauma and sexual abuse who are in various stages of the recovery
process. Its programs, including drop-in hours, offer an alternative to
unnecessary hospitalization and a complement to individual
psychotherapy. The Counselor-Coordinator will coordinate and implement
Survivors' Project programs, with a focus on empowering participants to
create a self-sustaining community that supports healing based on their
needs. The Counselor-Coordinator will work closely with the Group
Facilitator and under the supervision of NELCWIT's Director of
Counseling.
Responsibilities
1. Facilitate ATRIUM groups. ATRIUM groups are psycho-educational
groups which help women gain an understanding of PTSD, develop a plan
for coping with symptoms, and take steps to heal from past trauma.
2. Plan and coordinate support groups, expressive arts groups,
movement groups, and financial literacy training, and counseling.
3. Work with the Group Facilitator to develop and coordinate a Peer
Resource Advocacy Program.
4. Oversee all aspects of the Lunch Program (contingent on
funding).
5. Attend Group Supervision with the Clinical Supervisor at least
bi-weekly or as appropriate to meet the needs of the program, and weekly
supervision meetings with the Director of Counseling.
6. Attend staff meetings and all other related meetings as assigned
by the Director of Counseling.
7. Complete all necessary paperwork in a timely manner, as required
by agency and funding sources.
8. Work in collaborative relationships with all other NELCWIT
programs and with other community agencies.
Requirements
1. An understanding of and experience with the empowerment model of
community building.
2. Able to work evenings and weekends as required by the program.
3. High degree of professionalism.
4. Demonstrated ability to complete necessary paperwork.
5. Ability to model and uphold appropriate boundaries in work with
clients, co-workers, supervisor, and community.
6. Commitment to ending oppression and violence against women and
children. Commitment to social change through active participation in
working towards ending racism, classism, homophobia, ableism, ageism,
and all oppressions. Willingness to learn about and actively use
multicultural awareness and understanding in daily work.
35 hour per week. Union position. Benefits consistent with Union
Contract.
