URGENT ACTION ALERT - 9/29/05
VAWA COULD BE VOTED ON IN THE SENATE TODAY OR TOMORROW, CALL YOUR
SENATORS IMMEDIATELY!
VAWA is up for a vote in the Senate today or tomorrow and we URGENTLY
need everyone to call their Senators and ask them to vote yes on VAWA!
In light of yesterday's overwhelming victory in the House, you may think
VAWA passage is assured but that is not the case. It will only be
brought to the floor and passed if there is significant pressure today!!
VAWA's life-saving provisions expire TOMORROW! Please call your
Senators as soon as you can.
Tell the staff person who answers the phone:
Your name and the city and state you are calling from.
"Please ask the Senator to bring the Violence Against Women Act of 2005

Job Announcement Women's Center Coordinator=
Search #SA-0010-56 The Boise State University Women's Center Coordinator =
provides leadership and vision for the overall development of programs and =
services for the campus Women's Center, a department of the Division of =
Student Affairs. With special attention to the intersection of gender, =
race, sexual orientation and other significant aspects of individual and =
cultural identity, the Women's Center Coordinator will work collaboratively=
with university and community members, including an advisory board, to =
develop a vision that helps students reach their educational objectives =
and reflects the overall mission of the Women's Center with the following =
priorities: 1) educational outreach and awareness raising programs about =
women's issues and concerns; 2) support services which include effective =
and supportive consultation, referral to qualified and appropriate =
resources, classroom presentations and educational workshops, newsletters =
and publications, services that promote student retention, and advocacy; =
3) safe physical environment where students can feel comfortable to meet =
and study. The Women's Center Coordinator also provides training, =
staffing and some direct service advocacy and crisis intervention for =
students in need. Specific Duties/Responsibilitiesq Develops and =
implements University-wide educational and social programs, such as the =
Returning Women's Mentoring Group, the Sexual Assault Response Network and =
Women's History Month.q Works collaboratively with other University =
departments and community entities to develop and implement programs and =
services that support the mission of the Women's Center.q Provides =
leadership to a sexual assault advocacy program, including training and =
the development of prevention and education programs.q Helps to =
provide an inclusive environment for Boise State students, faculty and =
staff.q Hires, trains, coordinates and evaluates full-time staff, =
graduate assistants, student program and office assistants, and volunteers.=
q Actively participates in the advising of recognized student =
organizations that complement the values and mission of the Women's =
Center.q Develops and maintains the budget of approximately =
$175,000.q Oversees the use of the Women's Center and its equipment =
and supplies.q Provides educational counseling and support and =
referral services to students individually and in small groups.q =
Performs other duties as assigned. Qualificationsq Master's Degree =
in College Student Personnel, Social Work, Counseling, Women's/Gender =
Studies or related field.q Three (3) years experience in an area =
that addresses women's and gender-related concerns in Student Affairs in =
Higher Education or related field.q Demonstrated experience in =
educational program design and implementation.q Two (2) years =
experience with victim assistance services, advocate training or prevention=
education programming, preferable in a university setting.q Two (2) =
years experience in staff and volunteer supervision.q A record of =
personal and professional initiative, flexibility and strong communication =
