Although I have not heard of Sandra Brown as a presenter, I was curious
so went to the website and I too was uncomfortable with how the material
was presented. Comments like "it walks women through a deep examination
of their patterns with men" and the language in the Dangerous man quiz
focused solely on the woman as the problem. I thought it pathologized
any woman who may have dated a man who hurt them emotionally or
physically. When in reality I think the healthiest of women can get
into bad relationships because abusive men can be so good at hiding that
fact and can seem very charming at first. I do believe that there are
things women can do to reduce their risk to "dangerous men" but I think
the way that is presented can make all the difference. I would worry
that someone who may be involved in an abusive relationship would attend
a program such as this and it would reinforce her self-blame and
feelings of worthlessness and feeling embarassed and stupid for being in
such a relationship which would probably only reinforce the same kind of
messages that an abusive partner is already saying.
This was my first reaction when I looked at the website. I'd be very
interested in other's opinions and thoughts.

Has anyone heard of Sandra Brown as a presenter on unhealthy dating
relationships?
LSU is looking to bring her to their campus and they have contacted me
about feedback regarding her. I have never heard of her and checked out
her website http://www.saferelationships.com
and had a funny feeling about it, but I may be off. Any comments would
be very much appreciated. Then I can pass it back to them.
Thank you-
Juliette
