Kent State University

Title of Position: Women's Resource Center Director

Responsibilities: Full time, twelve-month position. Provides leadership for
the  Women's  Resource  Center  in  a manner consistent with the University
mission;  facilitates the advancement and quality of educational experience
and  professional  life  of  women  employees  and  students  at Kent State
University.   Establishes  department  goals,  objectives  and  strategies;
develops  and  implements programs, activities and services regarding women
related  issues; advises Vice President and University leadership on gender
related  issues.  Provides  outreach  and support services to women of Kent
State  University;  including  individual consultations; serves as resource
person  for  information,  referrals, and advocacy on women related issues.
Conducts workshops, gives lectures on women's issues.
Develops  and  implements  fund  raising  activities to raise money for the
center,  including grant writing. Plans, monitors, and maintains department
budget  and approves operating expenses; manages foundation and scholarship
accounts.
Works  with  the Director of the Women's Studies Program in the outreach to
involve faculty and students in the services and programs of the Center.
Oversees grant-funded projects and manages the report requirements.

Qualifications:  Master's  degree  in  a relevant field; two to three years
experience  in women's/gender programs in higher education or related area,
1-2 years experience in management of project, unit or team.
Demonstrated  knowledge and understanding of issues significant to women in
diverse   communities,  including  LGBT  (Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender)
issues;  knowledge  of  laws  and  regulations  related  to women's issues,
knowledge  of  women in leadership development, and support groups. Ability
to  provide  leadership  and direction and to analyze situation and develop
effective  solutions.  Skill  in  written  and interpersonal communication;
public   speaking  and  grant  proposal  writing.  Budgeting,  fundraising,
foundation    account   management,   and   analysis.   Personal   computer
applications.
