DIRECTOR OF THE OFFICE FOR EQUAL OPPORTUNITY
Virginia Tech is accepting applications from experienced leaders for the
position of Director of
the Office for Equal Opportunity. This position is vital to Virginia
Tech's efforts to achieve a
diverse learning and working environment.
The director of Virginia Tech's Office for Equal Opportunity provides
leadership and helps to
advance all the university's affirmative action and equal opportunity
and diversity efforts.
Reporting to the President, the director works closely with the
university's senior management in
developing and implementing equal opportunity and affirmative action
plans and strategies in
employment, admissions, and special initiatives. The director ensures
the university's compliance
with all local, state, and federal civil rights laws and regulations and
provides advice to the
university community on all equal employment opportunity/affirmative
action issues. The
director provides leadership to, and works collaboratively with, the
eight colleges and all
administrative units, and manages the overall operation of the office.
This position is ideal for a person with demonstrated leadership
capabilities, who is self-confident
and works well independently. The EO director must have a desire to
facilitate solutions and have
enthusiasm for addressing the challenges presented by the position.
