Our point of entry is the Sexual Violence Prevention Program.  In our
materials we list other places like the community sexual assault center
and public safety but typically students are always referred here to me
and then I assess needs and offer referrals to other places if needed.
I think it is good to list other alternatives because I know not
everyone is comfortable coming to the Women's Center (my program is part
of the campus Women's Center) but I work closely with those other places
and usually will get a call from them and can walk over to their office
to meet with the student.  I agree with trying to reduce the number of
times a student needs to tell their story and as an advocate I can help
them with all of those processes vs. it being compartmentalized with
each different area.

Hi All,

I am wondering about the best practices for points of entry into sexual 
assault services and/or judicial procedures on campus. Here the push is
to 
encourage students to contact one of several Sexual Assault Survivor 
Advocates (trained volunteers), me, Public Safety, the DA, one of the 
campus counselors, student health, our local rape crisis, one of the
deans 
etc etc. Most of these people have extremely limited training and
education 
about sexual assault.

I understand that the idea is that students will be most likely to talk
to 
someone they know already and feel comfortable with. However, I suspect 
that the numerous entry points may just be adding confusion for the
students.

I am also concerned that survivors are being asked to give their account

multiple times, at each office. When students come to see me as a first 
contact, I don't think they necessarily want me to ask them all of the 
questions to fill out a reporting form that we have, which is not the
same 
as the public safety reporting form, or what the DA might want to know 
about the case, especially if I am referring them to an advocate who
will 
then need to fill out her own report and so on. They generally want to
tell 
someone what happened, and hear that it is not their fault and their 
feelings are normal, and find out their options.

What kinds of experiences with campuses that have one unified point of 
entry or multiple points of entry built into your sexual assault
response 
do listmembers have? Has anyone worked with both kinds of system and can

compare the 2? What do you think works best? Is there any research on
what 
works best for survivors?

Hi All,

I am looking for a good anti-rape video specifically directed at men. I am
aware of the video used in the 1 in 4 program, and am seeking an
alternative to that one.
I also know about Tough Guise.
Any others that people other than the producers of the video can recommend?
