To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Dr. Thema Bryant-Davis and I am the Coordinator of the SHARE Program of University Health Services at Princeton University. SHARE is a counseling, advocacy, and programming office dedicated to those affected by sexual assault, sexual harassment, and harassment based on sexual orientation. In an effort to build community among institutions of higher learning around the issues of sexual assault we are planning a regional mini-conference. The mini-conference will be held at Princeton Universitys Murray-Dodge Hall, Friday, December 5th, 2003 from 8:30am-5:00pm.
During this important day-long event the following issues will be addressed:
1. Effective clinical interventions for those who have been sexually
assaulted
2. Key medical concerns and treatments following a sexual assault
3. Innovative prevention programming to raise awareness about sexual
assault
4. Relationship violence on college campuses
5. Coordinating with your local prosecutors office
6. Coordinating with community agencies around crisis response
7. Healing the Healer: Addressing Vicarious Trauma
8. Psychological and physiological responses to the trauma of rape
Speakers include:
* Maura Bairley, Program Coordinator Columbia-Barnard Rape Crisis/Anti
Violence Support Center
* Thema Bryant-Davis, Coordinator of the Princeton University SHARE
Program and American Psychological
Association representative to the United Nations
* Misumbo Byrd, Columbia University Office of Sexual Misconduct Prevention
and Education
* Patricia Hart, Director of WOMANSPACE
* Ruth Anne Koenick, Director of the Department of Sexual Assault,
Rutgers University
* Alice Lloyd, Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Coordinator
* Robin Scheiner, Mercer County Prosecutors Office
* Lisa Smith, Coordinator of Domestic Violence Services, Rutgers University
* Marlo Davis Boyle, Medical Trainer, Pittsburgh Action Against Rape
If your campus has an office dedicated to sexual assault, please encourage
your staff to attend the conference. If you do not have such an office,
please consider suggesting the conference to your womens center director,
counseling center director and/or staff, campus police investigators, and/or
Dean of Student Life. Please have them return the attached registration
form along with the registration fee by November 5th.
Thank you for your assistance in this important endeavor. We
look forward to meeting a representative from your institution.
Sincerely,
Thema Bryant-Davis, PhD
