Since the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 1999 that schools could be held liable
under "Title IX" for failing to properly respond to student-on-student
sexual harassment this law, perhaps best known for improving women's access
to college athletics, has rapidly emerged as a tool that college and
university campus rape victims have been able to use to sue their schools
for failing to properly respond to their complaints. The precedent setting
court rulings that began this trend, as well as the most current rulings
showing how federal courts across the country are interpreting these rulings
are now available in the "Lawyers" section of the Security On Campus web
site.

In addition to the precedent setting rulings, there is also commentary from
noted civil rights attorney Wendy Murphy, Title IX guidance from both the
U.S. Departments of Education and Justice, as well as rulings from the DOE's
Office for Civil Rights dealing with campus sexual assault cases.

This information is critical for both college and university officials who
deal with sexual assault complaints, as well as lawyers who represent campus
crime victims so please be sure to check out this important new resource
available at http://www.securityoncampus.org/lawyers/titleix.html.
