Dear Colleague,

The Call for Abstracts/Presentations for the 3rd National Sexual Violence Prevention Conference to be held on May 25 28, 2004 in Los Angeles, California will be available on October 6. The conference theme is Building Leadership and Commitment to End Sexual Violence. This conference is sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the California Coalition Against Sexual Assault, and the US Department of Justice.

To download abstract submission forms or to submit a proposal on-line go to:

http://www.cdc.gov/ncipc/2004nsvpc.htm

Please note that abstracts or presentation proposals must be received or postmarked no later than Friday, November 14, 2003.

The Conference Planning Committee is particularly interested in receiving proposals that reflect a special emphasis on underserved communities. We hope to attract a broad range of presenters, including persons whose work addresses social problems that impact the prevalence and prevention of sexual violence.

Issues we would like to address at the conference include, but are not limited to:

· How sexual violence impacts all communities?
· How to reach underserved communities?
· How to evaluate existing sexual violence programs?
· How to foster partnerships between researchers and providers?
· How to ensure culturally competent programs and services?
· How to include men in the prevention of sexual violence?

If you need help in developing a proposal, the National Sexual Violence Resource Center (NSVRC) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will host teleconferences on October 17 and October 28 from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. EST. and 2 p.m. - 3 p.m. EST (two calls on both days) to provide tips on developing an abstract or presentation proposal. The bridge line number is USA Toll Free: 1-888-528-9061, PASSCODE: 19133
If you have any questions after the training or require technical assistance in preparing a workshop proposal, please feel free to contact Cindy Newcomer at the NSVRC toll-free (877) 739-3895 or e-mail: .
