Title: March Coordinator

Positions reporting to this position: All March Staff

Background: To demonstrate overwhelming majority support for a woman's
right to choose safe, legal abortion and birth control, the largest
pro-choice majority in history, 1 million + women and men, will march on
Washington on Sunday April 25, 2004.  For the first time ever this
pro-choice march is a collaborative effort - four leading national
women's rights groups have come together to organize this momentous
event. The Feminist Majority, NARAL Pro-Choice America, National
Organization for Women and Planned Parenthood Federation of America are
the principal organizers of the March for Freedom of Choice and have
pooled efforts and resources to lay the groundwork.

Position Summary: The March Coordinator is responsible for recruiting
and organizing co-sponsoring organizations and individuals, implementing
the March plan and for the day-to-day management of the national March.

Responsibilities

*       Oversee and coordinate start-up of the March Storefront office
operation. Oversee day-to-day operations of the office and implement the
March plan.
*       Manage and administer March budget.
*       Recruit, hire, train and supervise March staff.
*       Staff March coalition and manage internal communication.
*       Develop and oversee systems to organize non-affiliated state
organizations, individuals and direct inquires to appropriate national
and state contacts.
*       Oversee the maintenance, use and communications of March related
databases, including co-sponsors, potential co-sponsors, state
delegations and registrants.
*       Organize national bus tour with principals and VIPs and other
recruitment/visibility tactics.
*       Manage the administration and oversight of the March website.
*       Respond to and route media calls as appropriate.
*       Manage vendor recruitment, registration, fees and logistics for
day of the March.
*       Track and report on turnout goals.
*       Perform administrative duties including: process contributions,
maintain bank account, budget and regular reports.
*       Research and recommend vendors for security, stage production,
services, printers, etc.
*       Prepare and deliver regular written and oral reports to March
committees.
*       Additional duties as assigned

Experience

*       Minimum 5 years effective grassroots organizing, project
management, leadership and supervisory experience
*       Excellent organizational and administrative skills
*       Must be proficient with spreadsheets, database management,
internet based applications
*       Experience working in and coordinating coalition efforts
*       Ability to work with diverse constituencies (students to
national leaders)
*       Ability to travel, work flexible and often long hours
*       Training and large scale event production experience a plus
