Dear Colleagues:
We are seeking input on resources for the development of our
University's "Now is the Time...Social Justice" web page. The current
webpage (www.time.wiu.edu) is focused on this year's campus-wide theme
of Civility and while some of that information will remain, we want to
expand the web page with resources on social justice.
Social Justice covers many areas and we would like to provide lists of
books (both fiction and non-fiction), authors, plays, music, and
electronic links by topic area. I am specifically seeking resources
pertaining to women and "women's issues" (which we all know are really
human issues), but anything you may have as it relates to sexual
orientation, race, class, ethnicity, nationality, ability, etc. would be
welcome.
There has also been a strong suggestion to identify issues and
resources specifically associated with our county, region, state and so
forth. It may be easier for individuals to utilize the Social Justice
resources if they connect directly to county, region, the State of
Illinois or have a more global appeal. Again, your suggestions and
recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Our committee is meeting this Wednesday at 9 a.m., so anything you
could email my way in the next day or two would be much appreciated. We
meet again next Wednesday, May 7, so if you don't have time to get
something to me by this week, then by next week would be great.
Thanks, in advance, for your assistance!
Janine
