Facilities Management Outage Notification

Impact to Building Occupants:  

Emergency Power Systems Supervisor, Charles (Chuck) Thomas, to oversee the replacement of obsolete switchgear controls by Schneider Field Services or their assign. Chuck to also schedule & coordinate utility power disconnection/reconnection with Dominion Power. Chuck will also monitor the battery drain on UPS-A, UPS-B & UPS-C and recharge batteries by providing either generator power or reconnecting utility power as appropriate.
Both utility power and generator power will be turned Off during the outage to work on the Main Switchgear (MSWG). The 3 UPS units will continue to provide limited electrical power to critical items. The UPS batteries will be monitored for low charge, and be recharged by turning either the utility or generator power back on until the batteries are fully charged again. Before battery recharging, the work on the MSWG will cease and protective barriers erected, or caution tape applied, to prevent entry and accidental contact with live electrical parts in the MSWG. This process may need to be repeated depending on how long the outage lasts and the storage capacity and resulting discharge of the UPS batteries.

This Outage Will Occur Daily: 08:00 AM-06:00 PM

2. Those performing work associated with this outage MUST  notify the Systems Control Center (982-4685) PRIOR TO THE START and upon COMPLETION of all work
